QUESTIONS 26: A ball is dropped from a height of 45m above the ground. Calculate the velocity of the ball just before it strikes the ground.
WAEC 1994 Ans:30m/s
SOLUTIONS
Always remember that
1. When an object is thrown upwards, its final velocity, v Initial velocity u =0
2. When an object falls downward or is released from a eig , 1 come down
3 The time it takes an object to travel upwards is the same t,me it takes to come
Initial velocity u, = 0m/s
Final velocity v = ?
Acceleration due to gravity g, = 10m/s²
Height h, 45m
USING v² = u² + 2gh
v² = 0² + 2 x 10 x 45
v² = 0 + 900
v² = 900
v = √900
v= 30m/s Answer
