QUESTIONS 43. A stone is dropped from the top of a tower of height 11.25m. Calculate the time it will take to reach the ground.
NECO 2004 Ans: 1.50s
SOLUTIONS
- Acceleration due to gravity g, = 10m/s²
- Initial velocity u, 0m/s
- Final velocity v, ?
- Height h, = 11.25m
- Time taken t, = ?
Using h = ut + ½gt²
11.25 = 0xt + ½(10)t²
11.25 = 0 + 10/2t²
11.25 = 5t²
t² = 11.25/5
t² = 2.25
t = √2.25
t = 1.50s ANSWER
