 QUESTIONS 24. The diagram below (fig. 1.12) represent a velocity - time graph. Determine the distance covered in the first 20 seconds

WAEC 2005 ANS: 60m

Solutions

Distance covered in the first 20 seconds = Area of (A + B)

A). Area of A = ½ (b x h)

Distance A = ½ x (10-0) x (4-0)

Distance = ½ x 10 x 4

Distance = ½ x 40

Distance = 20m

B). Distance B = Area of B = b x h

Distance s = (20-10) x (4-0)

Distance s = 10 x 4

Distance s = 40m

Therefore Distance covered in the first 20 seconds= ( 20+4

0) = 60m Answer
