 QUESTIONS 60 :

The velocity-time graph above represents the motion of a car. Calculate the total distance travelled by the car.

NECO 2008 Ans: 240

SOLUTIONS

Total distance travelled by the car = Area of Shape.

Area = [A + B + C]

Area of A = [½( b x h)]

A = (5 x 15)/2

A = 75/2

A = 37.5m

Area Of B = (b x h)

B = (15-5) x (15-0)

B = 10 x 15

B = 150m

Area of C = [½ (b x h )]

C = [½ (22-15) x (15-0) ]

C = [½ (7 x 15)]

C = ½(105)

C = 52.5m

∴ Total Distance travelled = A + B + C

S = 37.5 + 150 + 52.5

S = 240m ANSWER
